The mechanisms of action of the iontophoretic therapy are two. The first is the reestablishment of the equilibrium, through the used current, of the difference between the superficial electric potential naturally possessed by the skin and that of the derma, where the sweat glands are found. The unbalance of this potential facilitates the production of excessive sweating. The second mechanism of action is the narrowing, under electric stimulation, of the exit hole of the channel that allows the glands to carry the sweat outside.
